Mark your calendar for Saturday, December 14, 2013 for Xenia’s 6th annual Hometown Christmas!
Join us downtown from 4 pm to 8 pm for an evening of traditional music, Christmas lights, food, entertainment, children’s activities and a visit from Santa.
Get into the holiday spirit by grabbing a hot beverage and delicious meal from one of our visiting food trucks, dine at Santa’s Bistro, then take a stroll through the beautifully decorated and repainted downtown. Guess which buildings recently received a fresh coat of paint through the 2013 Benjamin Moore “Paint What Matters” contest, and vote on your favorite windows decorated in the theme of Christmas movies. Stop in to the downtown shops where businesses will be holding family-friendly activities that will get everyone in the mood for Christmas.
At 4 pm, bring the kids to meet Mr. and Mrs. Claus at Toward Independence located at 81 E. Main Street. Watch for the Walk to Bethlehem- you may be surprised who you’ll meet downtown! Go to one of the three ticket stations to reserve your spot for a carriage ride, then go to the Courthouse to hear emcee Gabrielle Enright announce events, and sing Christmas Carol Karaoke with others on the Courthouse lawn. For Hometown Christmas you can hear some jazz, watch some dancers, visit a children’s petting zoo and pet the live llamas. Are you a bicyclist? Walk or bicycle from the new bicycle plaza and decorated trail at Third and S. Detroit down to the Xenia Station to see the lights, have refreshments, and see the children’s locomotive, hand-colored by youngsters over a summer of First Fridays. Attend the childrens’ “ A Modern Christmas Carol” performance at X*ACT (advance tickets required) and view the delicious pieces baked by the winners of the Gingerbread house contest at Sweet Boutique.
Make this a night to remember and help support downtown Xenia.
